Problem statement

AutoCAD’s CAD Managers need to understand their team members specializations for training, staffing and project estimating.  Design projects have many phases and asking an HVAC specialist to draft the plumbing is a bad idea.  This tool also allows managers to pair junior staff with more seasoned designers to help upskill them. 

Design process

This was an interesting project: we had data available and were looking for viable use cases to build around it for our end users.  Requirements were vague so I started with intensive user research engaging CAD managers to understand their pain points and how our data might help.  

Similar prior work revealed that users were highly data-savvy and that an approach using data visualization might be a good strategy.
